Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss became a hot pick for the top returning starting QB for the 2026 season on the same day the state Mississippi court granted him his long-awaited injunction.
Ever since, Chambliss has widely been ranked as the top QB1 returning for another season, despite so many other QBs like Texas's Arch Manning and Oregon's Dante Moore, also returning for another year.
Trinidad Chamblis Brooks Austin's top QB
On Friday, analyst Brooks Austin released his top returning QBs rankings, and, as expected, Chambliss came in at No. 1, followed by CJ Carr, Darian Mensah, Arch Manning, Dante Moore, and more.
The only remaining question surrounding Chambliss is whether he could continue the same level of elite production as he did under Charlie Weis Jr. with John Baker.
That is perhaps the only reason that analyst like Danny Kanell have their reservations about ranking Chambliss high on their top returning QB lists.
While the concern is valid, underestimating a QB who had the 3rd most passing yards in the nation (3,937) and only 3 interceptions all last season would be a grave mistake.
Not to mention, his team was just one stop away from being the National Champions last season. They could have been, were it not for the failed Hail Mary at the Peach Bowl. And that was after the most dramatic coaching changes college football had seen in a while
Chambliss should adjust just fine with with a new staff.
Besides, the QB should also be making a run for the Heisman trophy this season, after finishing 8th on the list last season.
