'Will he enter the transfer portal?' is a question that has slowly crept into Oxford amid all the Sugar Bowl buzz.

Ever since Trinidad Chambliss announced Tom mars as his attorney for overseeing his waiver for sixth-year extension on Dec. 17, the anxiety has been growing in the Grove.

The Rebels' star QB still awaits the NCAA's decision on his waiver, seeking a medical redshirt in 2022. Chambliss potentially considering entering the single transfer portal window opening on Jan. 2 is a widely discussed reason for his getting more and more impatient about the approval.

“I feel like my case is very strong,” Chambliss said Tuesday. “I don’t see a reason why they should deny it, frankly. I have a lot to back up what I’m stating, what I’m putting in front of them. It’s up to the NCAA. Out of my control. I have all my faith in Jesus Christ.”

“I deserve it,” he added. “I’ve only played three seasons of college football. I feel like I deserve to play four. I redshirted in 2021. That was my freshman redshirt. Then I medically redshirted in 2022. Played in 2023, 2024, and this is 2025.”

Per On3's Nick Schultz, "Chambliss dealt with chronic tonsillitis, heart palpitations and trouble breathing during his first season at Ferris State, meaning he medically redshirted."

The transfer portal remains open till Jan. 16, so Chambliss would be awaiting a decision from the NCAA till then. Unfortunately for him, the decision has no definitive timeline.

Since the NCAA did away with the spring transfer portal period, Chambliss will need an answer before the portal closes; it will be his last chance.

The anxiety is undeniable, of course. But it is about time Ole Miss should start preparing for another QB to the Grove next season, because if Chambliss doesn't enter the transfer portal, he would be off to the NFL next season.
