Ole Miss has been busy in the transfer portal, with 15 commits already transferred. However, several of their players have also hit the portal. Yes, most of them were backups or waiting their turn, but some are still losses Lane Kiffin could have avoided.
Two Ole Miss transfers, running back Rashad Amos and offensive tackle Preston Cushman, have found new homes today. Kiffin wanted both players to stay, but they chose to start fresh at a new program.
Rashad Amos transfers to Memphis
Rashad Amos heads back to Memphis, a team that loves running the ball. There was great optimism when Amos transferred to Ole Miss from Miami (OH) after having a breakout year in 2023, rushing for over 1,000 yards and adding 13 touchdowns.
Amos struggled to carve out a role with the Rebels, and the running back room struggled to get anything going during SEC play. Amos managed nine carries for 75 yards and some time on special teams. With one year of eligibility remaining, he decided he needed a new start, and the Tigers gave him that shot.
Preston Cushman transfers to UCF
Preston Cushman, a former three-star offensive lineman out of the 2022 class, has announced he is transferring to UCF in the ACC. He has been waiting his time and trying to break into a starting role, but he has decided that joining the Knights is his best option for his future.
Cushman still has two years of eligibility remaining and will return home to his native Florida. He may have had a chance to start in 2025 with a good training camp, but he is one of several offensive linemen who transferred out of Oxford.
We wish both Rashad Amos and Preston Cushman the best at their new homes.
