Ole Miss has seen a quiet period regarding the transfer portal. However, they could be about to get a little busy this week.
The Rebels are targeting several players, with one a cornerback out of Washington. Thaddeus Dixon, currently the No.1 CB in the portal, is down to Ole Miss, Michigan, North Carolina, and Tennessee as his next home. He has also not ruled out a return to the Huskies.
In his two seasons in Washington, he had 69 tackles, 16 pass breakups, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. He was part of the 2023 roster that made it to the National Championship Game.
He started every game in 2024 except the Sun Bowl against Lousiville. He will have one year of eligibility remaining after spending two seasons at Long Beach City College before his transfer to the Huskies.
They did add a talented bunch via the 2025 recruiting class, with several four-star players. Some of those may start as true freshmen. However, having experienced players around them will still be necessary.
Kiffin has brought in two cornerbacks from the portal thus far. Arkansas transfer Jaylon Braxton looks talented but played just one game in 2024 due to an injury. The other is LSU transfer Sage Ryan, who is experienced and has played in SEC games under his belt.
The Rebels are still looking at several defensive back transfers, but adding Thaddeus Dixon would be a significant move for their secondary. It will be a tough fight, but the two Washington transfers from last season may help with his decision to come to Oxford.
Ole Miss needs experience in the secondary
Lane Kiffin and defensive coordinator Pete Golding are a bit light regarding experience in the secondary, with several players heading to the NFL or hitting the transfer portal.
