Ole Miss Softball: Walk-Off Win Seals Sweep Of #11 LSU
#22 Ole Miss softball has been making waves in the college softball world. They have garnered national attention despite their SEC record. However, Friday they garnered the attention of the SEC by winning a huge double-header with LSU, and taking the series against the Tigers. The series ended with the Rebels sweeping the Tigers Saturday in a walk-off win.
On Saturday, they once again shook up the Tigers, gaining a walk-off win for the second time in the series and closing out the sweep of #11 LSU. Ole Miss softball (30-13, 6-9) has found their SEC groove and increased their resume of Top 20 wins in the process. However, the schedule gets no easier.
Ole Miss will travel to UT-Martin for a midweek game, before traveling to Gainesville for a weekend SEC series against the Gators. However, before we look at what lies ahead, let’s look at what got us where we are, coming off the first-ever sweep of LSU softball. This is how it went down.

Once again in the series, Ole Miss pitching was solid with Kaitlin Lee in the circle. According to OleMissSports.com, Lee pitched her 8th consecutive complete game. Going a full 7.0 innings of duty, Lee allowed only 2 runs on 8 hits while chalking up 2 Ks.
Lee has emerged as one of the top pitchers in the SEC with a record of 12-6 and a 2.07 ERA. Lee is really durable and will be the catalyst behind success for Ole Miss throughout the rest of the season.
At The Plate
Of course, the story-line of the day is the sweep and the walk-off which allowed it to happen. The biggest hit of the day goes to Alyssa Gonzales for her walk-off to clinch the first-ever sweep of the LSU Tigers. Pinch-hitting in the 7th with 2 on, her shot would end the game and seal the sweep.
Other Rebels gathering hits on the day were Elantra Cox (.473), who was 1 for 3 on the day. Sarah Van Schaik (.322) went 1 for 2. Decatur, Mississippi native Ashton Lampton (.274) was also 1 for 2 on the day, while Grayce Majam (.333) went 1 for 3. Paige McKinney and Kaylee Horton would score runs on the shot by Gonzales.
