They Matter

Of course, they matter even though there are no gimmes. Ole Miss baseball (25-15, 9-9) comes into the game tonight having already been swept at home by MSU. Ole Miss also comes into this game at an even .500 in the SEC West. It is imperative they maintain momentum with only a few weeks left in the regular season. Right now they are on a two game win streak and a win tonight would go a long way this weekend as they travel to face the No.10 ranked Razorbacks. They also have series at Florida, home against A&M, and at Auburn.

On the other hand, Miss State (28-14, 13-5) comes into tonight’s game with a No.7 ranking. MSU also comes into tonight’s game atop the SEC. They also have one of the best offensive teams in the nation. They definitely have one of the best hitters in the SEC in Brent Rooker. Rooker leads the SEC with a .400 average at the plate. State is riding a 3 game win streak and need the win for the same reasons OM does. They need the win simply to keep momentum with just weeks left in the regular season.

This is an important game for both teams. It would be even if they weren’t located within the same state. So the only thing which matters now?
