Ole Miss Softball: Severe Weather, SEC Tourney Postponed Until Saturday
Ole Miss softball got a day off at the SEC Tourney as severe weather in the Knoxville area caused a postponement of play Friday. Play will resume Saturday with both semifinal games being played prior to the regularly scheduled SEC Tourney Championship game.
Ole Miss softball may not have needed a day off, but thanks to severe weather the Rebels got it. First a lightening delay halted the start of the Ole Miss/Bama match-up and then rain set in and the game was postponed until 10am CT Saturday morning. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
The second semifinal of the day between Auburn and LSU will be played at 1pm CT and will be televised on ESPN2. The SEC Tournament Championship game remains at its originally scheduled first pitch. First pitch from Knoxville will be at 7pm CT and will be televised on ESPN.
Day Off Is A Good Thing?

The Rebels, and especially Kaitlin Lee, may have been able to use the rest, maybe. However, Ole Miss softball fans sure hope the day off doesn’t cool down the red-hot Rebels nor their pitching ace Kaitlin Lee.
Lee put on a pitching clinic in the first two games. In both complete games Lee was like clockwork, allowing only 1 earned run on 7 total hits while recording 8 Ks and no walks.
Of course, we all plan on seeing Kaitlin Lee in the circle Saturday and would be surprisingly shocked if Coach Mike Smith doesn’t have her in the starting slot.
Softball and especially tourney softball success depends a lot on the momentum of your hottest pitcher. Right now, Lee has all the defensive momentum for the Rebels at this point in the tourney. Of course, Ole Miss softball fans can expect to see more of her in the circle.
I’ve been saying for weeks now that this team had a deep run in them. Saturday morning they crank it back up against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Of course, the Rebels took 2 of 3 games and the series against the Tide just a week ago. Good luck Rebels and Hotty Toddy! We have faith in you.
