LSU Tigers

It’s impossible to leave the LSU Tigers out of this conversation. The LSU Tigers have long been a thorn in Bama’s side. Although in recent years it was a mere distraction for Saban while Miles was coaching, now the Tigers have a serious defensive minded head coach.

Coach Orgeron and his Tigers were all Bama wanted to handle in Red Stick last season. The game was scoreless early into the 4th quarter, however Bama managed to squeak out a 10-0 win.

Of course, this is a different season for both teams. While both teams each lost 11 starters, 5 on offense and 6 defense, both teams have had plenty of depth on both sides of the ball. Both LSU and Bama are loaded with talent and basically there is no rebuilding for either team. They simply have to reload.

This will be the year LSU explodes in the SEC. I believe they have the best RB in the SEC in Derrius Guice and also have a more experienced QB returning in Danny Etling. Of course, the exact same thing can be said of Bama. So who is expected to win? Well of course if we really knew that we wouldn’t have to play the game.

My belief is this. Coach O’s defensive unit found a way to keep Bama scoreless for three solid quarters last season. This season Coach O is in firm control of a strong team in even better condition. If this game goes close late then all bets are off for the Tigers, however it could play right into Coach O’s hand. Bama will be missing their biggest weapon from last years win and they failed to reload.

Skip’s Pick: LSU 31, Alabama 28
