Besides being the most important hire for Ole Miss football of the Matt Luke era, Jack Bicknell, Jr brings a wealth of knowledge to the Ole Miss offensive front.

Ole Miss football fans have seen a lot of new faces around Oxford in recent months. With the resignation of Hugh Freeze and the emergence of the Matt Luke era in Ole Miss football, Jack Bicknell, Jr has found a new home.

Many people who are especially familiar with professional football realize what we are getting in Bicknell, Jr. For Ole Miss, in the middle of a worst case scenario, Bicknell Jr is a huge get for Ole Miss football and Matt Luke. He also came upon the recommendation of NY Giants and former Ole Miss quarterback Eli Manning. That’s a nice recommendation to have on your resume.

Still there are many Ole Miss football fans who were in too much inner turmoil in the past two weeks to realize what we are getting in the legendary offensive line genius Jack Bicknell, Jr. As with any coaching legend we get a fountain of experience and this Rebel offensive front knows they are lucky to tap into that.

Jack Bicknell, Jr is a graduate of Boston College where he played for his father and was center for the legendary BC quarterback Doug Flutie. Yes, he was the guy who snapped the ball in the hail mary play against Miami. It was an instant college classic.

Bicknell, Jr began his coaching career at his alma mater of Boston College where he coached as a graduate assistant. Bicknell, Jr then spent ten seasons as defensive line coach at the University of New Hampshire.

He also served as a head coach for eight seasons in the college ranks with Louisiana Tech. He ranks third all-time in victories in LT history.

As impressive as his collegiate coaching career may be, his professional coaching career is amazing. Bicknell, Jr is well-respected and has a repertoire of names he has coached to stardom.

According to OleMissSports.com,

"Following his first season with New York, three offensive linemen (Snee, O’Hara and tackle David Diehl) were selected to the 2010 Pro Bowl, marking the first time since 1962 that three Giants from the same position group were selected to the Pro Bowl. ~OleMissSports.com"

In Closing

Trust me, Ole Miss football fans have a real reason to be excited about this coach. He develops All-Pros and the impact he will make on these players will be dramatic. Although the offensive line we have is huge and athletic from playing under Luke, they know what Bicknell Jr can give them. He can give them the pro technique and experience which carries 300 lb plus guys to the next playing level.

Sean Rawlings, center, says he is excited about what Bicknell brings to this Ole Miss football team. I’m good with that right there. Coach Bicknell, Jr obviously sees the talent he has on this squad and just how special this offense really is. Welcome to the Ole Miss football staff coach Bicknell and good luck with some great linemen. Hotty Toddy!
