Ole Miss Football: We Owe You a Beat-down, South Alabama

The beginning of Ole Miss football starts this weekend against the University of South Alabama Jaguars. South Alabama, we have not met before but we owe you a beat-down.

Well, well, well. Look who has the audacity to show their face in the great State of Mississippi again. If it isn’t the mighty University of South Alabama Jaguars. You fellas lost? You guys are a mighty long way from Mobile, Alabama. Now you have Ole Miss football to deal with and it will not be pretty.

Hold up, I’m glad you’re here. We have some unfinished business to take care of. Although this is our first time actually meeting, we’ve known about the way you operate for quite some time now. We are aware of how you like to roll into other teams stadiums and beat them in front of their fans.

I’m not talking about your impressive win against San Diego State. That was in Mobile, Alabama. That was in your neck of the woods. Plus, that had nothing to do with us. It was impressive none the less, seeing that they were ranked 19th in the nation.

Little Brother’s Keeper?

However, we can not sit idly by while you waltz into this great state and embarrass our little brother (more like a step-brother/half-brother, it’s complicated). Do you think you can just silence those cowbells and walk right back into the state the very next year like nothing happened? Not on our watch.

Let me ask you a question, USA. Do you really think we were going to forget about how you went to Starkville and shamed Mississippi State into silence? Think again. I’m here to remind you of the hurt you brought to that institution. I’m never going to let you forget how you beat those Bulldogs.

Have you ever thought about how it must have crushed their spirits when a middle tier Sun Belt conference school came and defeated a Power 5, SEC school on the first week of the year? No…YOU HAVEN’T.

They Can Be Annoying.

Don’t get me wrong. I know they can be so annoying. All the whining and finger-pointing makes you feel like you’re talking to four-year olds. Of course we know this. Remember, they are our little brothers (step-brother/half-brother, it’s complicated).

Even when we fight, we win some, they win some. Just last year they beat us for the first time in like three years and they can’t shut up about it. Just like a four-year old. I just figured out the other day the reason they talk about it so much is because they don’t know when they will ever beat us again.

However, that does not give you the right to march in Davis-Wade Stadium on national television and cause the entire SEC to laugh at them. They were so upset about the whole incident, they even spent a few days complaining about their head coach wearing short pants to the game as if you guys were the practice squad. There were even some that wanted to start looking for another coach.

Big Brother is Here!

Do you see what trouble you started, South Alabama? You guys picking on a defenseless little team is terrible. It is bullying, plain and simple. However, I won’t allow it. Therefore, like a good big brother we are going to beat you down on Saturday.

Someone has to restore the good name of the state of Mississippi after that mockery last year. Don’t expect your visit to the Magnolia State to end with happiness and joy for you like it did last year. You know, like after you beat Mississippi State 21-20 in Starkville last season.

Let this be a lesson. When you mess with our little brother (step-brother/half-brother, it’s complicated), you better be ready for a beat-down. A beat-down by us, not them, because you completely owned them. Hotty Toddy!
