Ole Miss Basketball: Rebels Take Season Opener, Eastern Ky Tonight
Ole Miss basketball opened it’s season Friday night with the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns in Oxford at The Pavilion.
The Ole Miss basketball team opened it’s season in The Pavilion on Friday night against the University of Louisiana -Lafayette. Despite trailing at the half 40-42 came back in the second to take the 94-76 win.
Behind the 21 points of Terrance Davis, who led all Rebels in scoring, and the strong play of senior Marcanvis Hymon the Rebels had a strong second half to secure the victory for Ole Miss. Hymon struggled in the first half, however his second half efforts resulted in a double-double on the night. The 6’7″ forward finished the night with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Freshman sensation Devontae Shuler had an incredible performance in his first collegiate game with 17 points and 3 assists. Shuler struggled in the first half just a little but surged in the second half.
According to OleMissSports.com, five Rebels finished the night in double digit scoring. Also included in those five players were Deandre Burnett with 17 points and 3 assists and Breein Tyree who finished the night with 10 points.
Historically, Kennedy coached teams have been known for their second half runs and this game was no different. This Ole Miss basketball team played hard in the second half and earned the victory over the Cajuns.
Up Ahead
Tonight the Rebels take on Eastern Kentucky and will try to secure their second win of the season. Of course, Eastern Kentucky is a sound basketball team and will make sure the Rebels have their hands full.
Tip off for tonight’s game is set for 5:30pm CT and is listed as the opening game for the Rebels in the MGM Grand Main Event which will end with the Rebels playing either Rice or UNLV in Las Vegas on November 22. Hotty Toddy!
