Ole Miss football has long been known for having a stout defense. In the past number of years defense has been lacking. Now they have some impact players coming into the mix.

It’s hard to say Ole Miss football and not think of some of the greatest defensive players in Ole Miss history. Lately Ole Miss defense has been short of being what we are accustomed to. However, there is a new batch of defensive players coming into the mix.

This Ole Miss football recruiting class has been focused on defense. Of course, it should be. You can have the best offense in the conference and still come up short. We’ve seen wide open offense and defense which couldn’t stop a cold.

The solution to the problem comes by recruiting great defensive players and it lands in the secondary first and foremost. Within the pass-happy SEC you need a great secondary or you can expect to see some losses Enter Keidron Smith.

Keidron Smith is one of my favorite additions to the Ole Miss family, Of course , as a part of the Ole Miss family we’ve wanted to see big plays. Keidron gives us big-play ability in the secondary on an immediate factor. Keidron is a player who will come in  immediately and see significant playing time.

Keidron is a big-time play-maker and will see big plays as a Rebel. At 6’2″ and 180 lbs Smith is set for the rigors of Ole Miss defensive play. Of course, he has the size and agility of a high-profile Ole Miss defensive back and can be dominant on defense at the corner-back position.

At Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida Keidron was electric with a total of 6 INTs in his high school career. Smith is a ball hawk who can cover and disrupt the receiver. Although he is listed as a corner-back there is also a chance he may wind up playing some at linebacker if he can bulk up.

OHT Welcomes Smith

We’ve seen the defense decline in recent years and it has had obvious in the Ole Miss secondary. Smith brings size, speed and ability to the defense and we can expect great things from him. Ole Miss suffered this season from poor pass coverage. I believe Keidron Smith brings something to the defense which has been lacking. That’s authority.

Next: An Interesting Postseason!

We look forward to seeing Keidron in the secondary and appreciate his decision to be a Ole Miss Rebel. OHT welcomes Keidron Smith to the Ole Miss family and to the Ole Miss defense. Hotty Toddy!
