Ole Miss football went extra thick on recruiting for the defense with the 2018 class when it came to shoring up the defensive line. Another defensive tackle.

Like many Ole Miss football fans I’ve been very happy with what I’ve seen from this coaching staff. From day one of having the interim tag removed Matt Luke has been busy and it showed within the early signing period. However, for me the one thing which pleases me most about this signing class is the focus on the defensive side of the ball.

For many Ole Miss football fans it shows this staff is working hard to make us better where we need it most. Of course by you are probably well aware of the success of the staff surrounding this recruiting class and defensive signees at the defensive tackle position. Well add one more name to that list. OHT introduces and welcomes Quentin Bivens to the Ole Miss family.

At 6’3″ and 288lbs Quentin Bivens is another big get for the Ole Miss staff. Of course, he is another defensive tackle who could be ready to vie for a spot in the depth chart immediately. He is not just big but he is also very agile for a big man.

Like the other defensive tackles who have signed with this class Bivens is not one-dimensional. He’s not just there to get a tackle every now and then. No, he creates disruption on the line of scrimmage. He plays low and has good lateral movement and also uses his hands to get off blocks.

Also like the other defensive tackles in this group, Quentin has a highlight reel worthy of an extra look or two. Of course, I implore you to go watch his videos and see for yourself. Quentin is a big strong DT who knows how to use his size, speed and skill.

It’s easy to see why he was selected to play in the Mississippi-Alabama All Star game. It’s hard not to like a player of Bivens talent.

More To The Story

What I like most about Quentin Bivens is he has been all Ole Miss football since day one. Not only can he play defensive tackle at a high level but he has wanted to be a Ole Miss Rebel forever. That type of dedication is what we hope all the signees have. Of course, with Quentin there is zero doubt.
