The early signing period benefited Ole Miss football recruiting greatly and there were some surprises which made Ole Miss Rebels fans very happy.
With the defensive top-heavy recruiting class Ole Miss football has reeled in so far in the 2018 recruiting class we didn’t see many offensive players. Only four of the fourteen were offensive players. One spot which we were looking forward to seeing filled was the empty spot at quarterback left blank because of a transfer.
We knew coach Matt Luke and staff would go after a great quarterback, however few of us imagined it would be an Army All-American. Of course, when Matt Corral flipped his commitment from Florida on December 14 it was certainly a welcomed surprise. Ole Miss has long been known for its outstanding quarterbacks. Add Matt Corral to the list.

Out of Long Beach, California Matt Corral is one of the top-rated quarterbacks in the nation. At 6’2″ and 196 lbs he is a strong-armed and precise passer. He has great pocket presence and makes good decisions with the ball.
In high school Corral went 547 of 860 for 10, 148 yards passing with 103 TDs and only 22 interceptions.
Although Corral is thought of as a pure pocket passer, he can run the ball as well. Matt had 228 carries for 940 yards rushing and 20 TDs in his high school career.
Of course, Matt was highly sought by a number of big-time programs which included Alabama, USC, UCLA and Florida among others.
Corral was selected to US Army All-American Team and had an excellent game. Corral had the game-winning touchdown pass to give the West team the victory.
Corral is a very exciting quarterback to watch on film. Of course, you can always check out his highlights and see for yourself what all the excitement is really all about.
Corral Your Excitement
Ole Miss football fans have enjoyed the flip of Matt Corral from Florida to Ole Miss. Flips are always nice but even more so when they are big-time players. In this case its easy to see why Ole Miss Rebels fans are excited over Matt Corral. Of course, we may have to wait to see him in action.
At this point we have no idea if Corral will be red-shirted during his freshman season. However, Matt Corral could easily see time in the depth chart during his freshman season. Of course, a year behind Ta’amu to learn the Phil Longo system would be very beneficial for both Corral and the Rebels. However, there is no way to tell when a young quarterback has to be ready to play.
Matt Corral is a very talented quarterback and Ole Miss football is very lucky to have him as a Rebel. Of course, Ole Miss football fans are happy to see Matt Corral choose Ole Miss for his college career. OHT wants to thank Matt and welcome him to the Ole Miss family. Hotty Toddy!
