OHT is profiling the players who inked letters of intent with Ole Miss football during the early signing period. We are winding down to only a couple more players.

Ole Miss football recruiting is turning out to be a thrill ride for Ole Miss fans. It began within days of the early signing period and peaked on December 20th. Ole Miss football jumped in the 247 Composite rankings 26 spots to No.34 by inking fourteen players in the 2018 class. This was an incredible improvement in the short time after the Egg Bowl win and subsequent permanent head coaching position by Matt Luke.

Of course, by now you have seen each profile and know there are ten defensive players among the fourteen who inked with Ole Miss. The very obvious attention given to the defensive side of the ball excites many Ole Miss football fans. Another defensive player who stands out to me in this class is linebacker Vernon Dasher.

Vernon Dasher, a native of  Barkley, Georgia comes to Ole Miss via Coffeyville Community College In Coffeyville, Kansas. At 6’3″ and 215 lbs Dasher is a 3-star rated outside linebacker who is a beast at the position. Of course, Dasher can play anywhere at linebacker and literally do it all.

Because of his speed Dasher can drop back into coverage and play with the best receivers. He has great closing speed on the ball and makes big plays.

Although Dasher is big and strong, he is also very fast and extremely athletic. When you watch his highlights you see several plays where his speed pops. He is a vicious hitter and plays with a head hunter attitude.

Of course, Dasher received offers from ten schools which included Kansas State, Cincinnati and East Carolina. Dasher was a late commit for the Rebels, however getting a player with his talent level at the linebacker position is always a surprise.

Immediate Impact

Because of his time with a relatively good JUCO program Dasher has been well coached. He has experience within a tough Kansas community college league. When you factor in his size, speed and ability you have to agree he is ready to be an outside linebacker in the SEC. Of course, Ole Miss is very lucky to have Vernon Dasher ready to play at the position.

Next: The Future For Ole Miss

OHT wants to thank you Vernon for choosing Ole Miss as the destination to finish out your college career. Of course, Rebel nation looks forward to seeing you on the field next season. Good luck next season and welcome to the Ole Miss family. Hotty Toddy!
