Ole Miss basketball is running out of time. With only 10 games left in the 2017-18 season the Rebels only have 5 more chances to get a road win.

It has been an unbearably rough season for Ole Miss basketball (11-10, 4-4) and the fans. While the Rebels have done marginally well at home (10-3) the road games have been horrid. Of course, there have been a few close road games however most have been ugly losses and left Ole Miss win-less on the road with a 0-6 record.

Of course with the season winding down the Rebels are running out of chances. They will have a daunting task ahead of them trying to close out the regular season on a positive note. The likelihood of the Rebels reaching 20 wins this season is sharply decreased with only 10 regular season games left.

The Rebels need 9 wins to get to the magical 20 win number. The chances are slim they will make it prior to the SEC Tournament. Of course, 5 of the 10 Rebels remaining regular season games are road games. With the struggles Ole Miss basketball has seen on the road it seems impossible the Rebels will make 20 wins. Some Ole Miss fans are left wondering if the Rebels will even get a true road win this season?

Ole Miss Rebels Basketball

As bad as the first 21 games have been it doesn’t get any better for the Rebels within the final 10 games. Ole Miss basketball will start at home this Tuesday night against No.19 Auburn (19-2, 7-1) who leads the SEC. The Rebels hit the road for a match-up against Tennessee (15-5, 5-3) next Saturday.

The Rebels will return home to The Pavilion the following week to take on Missouri (13-8, 3-5). The Rebels then are back on the road the to take on LSU (12-8, 3-5) on February 10th. The Rebels return home to take on Arkansas (15-6, 4-4) before facing Miss State (15-6, 3-5) and Missouri (13-8, 3-5) in consecutive road match-ups.

The Rebels return to Oxford on February 24th to take on Tennessee before they face Kentucky (16-5, 5-3). The Rebels then close out their regular season back at home against Vanderbilt (8-13, 2-6) on Saturday March 3rd.

The Rebels could closeout with wins in all of their home games. However the Rebels have road games against Tennessee, LSU, Miss State, Missouri and Kentucky. Ole Miss could pick up 2 road wins out of the 5, however with their struggles there are no guarantees. The most realistic scenario for the final 10 games would be the Rebels being able to go 7-3. This would put Ole Miss basketball at 18 wins going into the SEC tourney.

Cautious Optimism

As Ole Miss basketball comes to a close we all hope for better results in these upcoming final games. Of course, basketball is all about who is the hottest team at the moment and how much momentum a team can carry into the tourney. While some may believe finishing 7-3 is setting the bar a little too high for the Rebels, it is very achievable.

Finishing the season 7-3 in these final 10 games would give a the Rebels an 18-13 overall record and a SEC record of 11-7. This would definitely give Ole Miss basketball some degree of momentum headed into the SEC tourney. Of course, a couple of tourney wins could get Andy Kennedy and the Rebels to the 20 win mark on the season. Hopefully the Rebels can find a way to close out the season on a strong note. Hotty Toddy!
