After coming off a home loss to Missouri Ole Miss basketball hit the road to Baton Rouge seeking their first road win of the season over the LSU Tigers.

The road hasn’t been kind to Ole Miss basketball (11-14, 4-8) this season. Ole Miss went into Baton Rouge hoping to find their first road win of the season but fell short to the Tigers in a 82-66 loss. The loss pushed the Rebels road record to 0-8 this season. The loss was also the fifth consecutive for Andy Kennedy and the Rebels.

This was literally a tale of two halves for Ole Miss basketball against LSU (14-10, 5-7). The Rebels fell behind early in the first half and were down by as many as 14 points. The Rebels played well in the first half and made some great shots. Ole Miss cut into the lead and went to the break with a 37-37 tie.

The second half was a complete 180 from the Rebels in the first half. The Rebels fell apart on both ends of the court and watched the game slip away from them after the break. Ole Miss couldn’t score from the field or from the arc. Inconsistent shooting have haunted the Rebels this season and it was a problem against LSU leading to a 82-66 loss. Of course, lets look at the game by the numbers and you can see for yourself.

Ole Miss Rebels Basketball

Once again Ole Miss basketball played a game which is reflected in the numbers from the game. Of course, this isn’t the first game this season we’ve seen the Rebels deficiencies in the stat-line. The Rebels were outmatched in every major category in the game,

Ole Miss shot poorly from the field against the Tigers. The Rebels went 23 of 62 for 37.1% while the Tigers shot 29 of 58 for 50.0% from the field. Inconsistency in shooting has been a significant problem for the Rebels this season and it shows here.

It was just as ugly from the three-point line for Ole Miss. The Rebels shot just 6 of 29 from the arc for 20.7% while LSU shot 6 of 23 for 26.1%. The Rebels have struggled from the three-point line in the past several games. Having to play from behind the Rebels have used the arc to play back into games. Of course, it didn’t work at all against LSU.

Ole Miss basketball has shot remarkably well from the charity stripe this season. However, Saturday the Rebels even struggled from the line. The Rebels went 14 of 20 for 70.0% while the Tigers shot 18 of 24 for 75.0%. On a bright note the Rebels did out-rebound the Tigers 40-36.
