No.17 Ole Miss softball was at home in Oxford this past weekend for the Ole Miss Classic and finished with a 3-1 record after a loss to USM.

Ole Miss softball (13-3) hosted the Ole Miss Classic this past weekend in Oxford. Ole Miss faced four very tough teams and played very well thru the first three games. The Rebels picked up a 10-2 win over UT-Martin Friday night and then picked up wins in their two games Saturday.

The Rebels got a 3-1 win over Saint Louis and another 10-2 win over Chattanooga. Sunday the Rebels fell 5-2 to the USM Golden Eagles. Once again Ole Miss softball showed they can be a very productive ball team against quality competition and should continue to do well as they are nearing conference play.

So far this season the Rebels have lived up to the expectations of Ole Miss softball fans. Of course, we are excited over our Ole Miss softball team and we’ll take a look at the Rebels weekend and the numbers from each game.

By The Numbers

Lee went just 2.2 innings allowing 5 earned runs on 9 hits. Lee had 1 K. Freshman Anna Borgen entered in the third and went 4.1 innings in the circle. Borgen allowed no runs on 1 hit. However, Borgen did have a WP which scored a run.

At the plate the Rebels pitchers found little help. Five Rebels went for 6 hits which led to just 2 runs. Senior Paige McKinney went 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBI. Senior Alex Schneider and freshman Amanda Roth each went 1 for 2 at the plate with Schneider scoring 2 runs. Kylan Becker went 1 for 3 while sophomore Autumn Gillespie went 1 for 4.

Softball can have some strange twists when it comes to wins and losses. It is very difficult to avoid losses from time to and this game was one of those cases. Of course, this game will help the Rebels get better as the season goes on and we should see wide open softball coming up as soon as tonight.

Next: Highly Anticipated!
