The road wasn’t an easy place to play last weekend at College Station and Ole Miss softball was hoping to find Hammond a little more favorable.

No.22 Ole Miss softball (14-7, 0-3) has found some tough going over the past week and a half. In fact the Rebels were going into Hammond against Southeastern Louisiana on a 5 game slide. Of course, three of those games came on the road against then No.7 Texas A&M. The Rebels are a good team who just needs to get back to winning and Wednesday night did just that.

The Rebels put the first runs on the board with 2 in the top of the 1st and never looked back. The Rebels added 3 more in the second frame to take a 5-0 lead into the 3rd. Both teams were stymied in the 3rd and 4th and the game stayed 5-0 into the 5th. Ole Miss added 1 run in the 5th and 2 in the 6th to take a 8-0 lead. The bottom of the 6th was just like the rest of the game for SELA and the Rebels secured the 8-0 road win.

This Rebels softball team is a team which is very capable of being a top-10 team by the time the SEC Tourney rolls around. Of course, with the pitching the Rebels possess they simply need to be more consistent offensively. When they produce at the plate they are almost unstoppable. Before we get ahead of ourselves lets look at the numbers from last night.

By The Numbers

More from Ole Miss Softball

Drawing the start in the circle for the Rebels was senior Kaitlin Lee. Lee who has struggled as of late was amazing for 5 complete scoreless innings while allowing only 1 hit. Lee had 3 Ks and gave up 0 BB. Junior Brittany Finney entered in the 6th and finished out the game. Finney allowed no runs on 1 hit and gave up 1 BB. Lee earned her 9th win of the season.

At the plate the Rebels busted things wide open offensively. On the evening there were five Rebels hitters who combined for 11 hits against SELA. Four Rebels had multiple hit games. Junior Kylan Becker went 3 for 3 at the plate with 1 RBI and a run scored. Junior Celeste Wood went 3 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI and a run scored.

Redshirt sophomore Autumn Gillespie went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI and a run scored. Sophomore Kaylee Horton was 2 for 4 at the plate while knocking in 1 RBI and scoring a run. Senior Elantra Cox was 1 for 3 in the game with 1 RBI and 3 runs scored. Senior Paige McKinney also scored a run.
