Ole Miss Baseball: No.5 Rebels Drop Game-Two Against LSU
No.5 Ole Miss baseball faced the LSU Tigers in game-two of the weekend series Friday night after a huge Thursday night blowout win.
Ole Miss baseball entered Friday nights contest coming off a huge 14-3 game-one win over LSU. The Rebels had the obvious momentum headed into game-two and were hoping to take the series with another win. It was a different looking game Friday night as the two SEC foes squared off at Swayze Field.
The Rebels got on the board first with 1 run in the bottom of the 1st. Ole Miss maintained the 1-0 lead thru the 5th but the Tigers scored 2 runs in the top of the 6th to take the 2-1 lead. The Tigers added 1 run in the 7th and 2 runs in the top of the 8th to extend the lead to 5-1. Ole Miss scored 1 run in the bottom of the 8th but couldn’t muster enough to rally. The Tigers picked up the 5-2 win.
The Friday night loss evened the series and produces the rubber game for Saturday. The loss also dropped the Rebels to second place in the SEC West behind Arkansas. Of course, we can look at this loss by the numbers.
