No.5 Ole Miss baseball was back in action Saturday afternoon in the final game of the weekend series against the LSU Tigers.

Saturday afternoon found No.5 Ole Miss baseball facing LSU in game-three of the weekend series. After a 14-3 game-one win and a 5-2 loss in game-two the Rebels and the Tigers would face off in the rubber game for game-three and the series win in a scoring fest from both teams in front of a packed house at Swayze Field.

Scoreless after the first frame LSU got on the board first with 1 run in the top of the second. Ole Miss answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the second to take the 4-1 lead after two. However the Tigers would answer with a 6 run top of the 3rd to retake the lead at 7-4.

LSU maintained the 7-4 lead into the bottom of the 7th when Ole Miss scored 5 runs to retake the lead at 9-7. After a scoreless 8th the Tigers attempted a rally and scored just 1 run to cut the Ole Miss lead to 9-8. Thanks to great defense and pitching the Rebels were able to secure the 9-8 win and the SEC series.

Picking up a series win in the SEC is always a good thing. When the series win comes against LSU it’s even better. At the time of this release No.5 Ole Miss baseball sits at 2nd place in the SEC West behind the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Hogs will be going for a series sweep today against Alabama. Of course, a Hog loss would put the Rebels in a tie with the Razorbacks for first place in the SEC West with Ole Miss holding the tie-breaker. There is a lot of baseball left to play so we look at this game by the numbers.
