No.3 Ole Miss baseball was facing South Carolina in a weekend road series where the Rebels found themselves fighting to avoid the series sweep.

After two consecutive losses to the South Carolina Gamecocks, Ole Miss baseball was in a dogfight to avoid the series sweep. It took four home-runs and shutdown pitching to get the Sunday win and head back home with a small degree of momentum.

The Rebels got on the board first with 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. South Carolina answered in the bottom of the 3rd to tie the game at 2-2. With the game still tied 2-2 going into the 5th the Rebels added 1 run in the top but the Gamecocks responded with 1 run in the bottom of the frame to keep the game tied at 3-3.

South Carolina added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 6th to take the 5-3 lead into the 7th but Ole Miss answered with runs in the top of the 8th and 9th innings to tie the game at 5-5 and send it into extra play. Ole Miss baseball added 1 run in the top of the 10th to take the 6-5 lead and ultimately get the win.

Losing a series is never a good thing but playing on the road in the SEC is never going to be easy. Although Ole Miss baseball dropped the series they fought to avoid the sweep and being able to bounce back in tough situations is a strong indicator of a good team. Of course, for now lets enjoy this win by the numbers.
