As we draw closer to the 2018 Ole Miss football season OHT is breaking down each position and looking at depth. OHT is handing out grades based on the talent level and the depth at each position group. Now, we are looking at the anchor of the potent Ole Miss offense and one of the biggest position groups in the nation. The Ole Miss offensive line.
Everything which works for the Ole Miss offense hinges on these big men up front. Success with the Phil Longo offense hangs on how well this position group performs. The Ole Miss offensive line is one of the biggest in the SEC. The Ole Miss offensive line is the wedge for a powerful Ole Miss offense. With proper protection Jordan Ta’amu will be able to facilitate a powerful offense and put up huge numbers.
Looking At The Roster
Ole Miss Rebels Football
This is the most solid position group for the Rebels and it is literally huge. Led by Athlon All-SEC selection Greg Little (6’6, 325 lbs) this group has the potential for being the best in the SEC if not the nation. This is a big group of offensive linemen and one of the largest starting lines in the SEC.
Anchoring the Ole Miss offensive line are seniors Sean Rawlings (6’5, 294 lbs), Javon Patterson (6’3, 314 lbs) and Jordan Sims (6’4, 330 lbs). They are joined by junior Alex Givens (6’4, 304 lbs) who adds to the experience on the offensive line for the Rebels.
Other Rebels expected to make huge contributions on the offensive line this season are sophomores Bryce Matthews (6’6, 284) and Royce Newman (6’5, 301 lbs). They are joined by sophomore Chandler Tuitt (6’4, 311 lbs) and freshman Ben Brown (6’5, 300 lbs).
Preseason Grades
The Ole Miss offensive line unit is the one position group which will serve the Rebels most in 2018. The Rebels have a huge line and will have to excel if the Rebels expect to have a decent season. For now this position group grades out very well.
