There is no doubt No.2 Ole Miss baseball is on a roll heading into the 2018 NCAA postseason and find themselves hosting the Oxford-Regional.

This past weekend was a certainly a whirlwind for the No.2 Ole Miss baseball team. Coming off a 2018 SEC Tourney Championship puts the Rebels in as the No.4 national seed and hosting their own Oxford-Regional. It was a great SEC Tourney and there was a ton of great baseball. The Rebels entered the SEC Tourney with the best record in the SEC and showed they are a legit team.

I had planned on making the ride over to Hoover for the SEC Tourney and spending the week with my son and his girlfriend. However, the Monday of the tournament I was enjoying an impromptu visit to the ER for dehydration so the Tourney was out of the question. Still, there was some great baseball and I did watch every game via the SEC Network.

More from Ole Miss Baseball

The first game for the Rebels wasn’t a pretty one as they dropped a 9-3 game to Auburn in the second round. However, the Rebels bounced back with wins over Georgia, Auburn and Texas A&M to make it to Championship Sunday in the SEC Tourney. The Rebels faced LSU in the tourney finals and defeated the Tigers by the score of 9-1 to win the 2018 SEC Tourney.

NCAA Tourney Up Next

Monday the selections for the 2018  NCAA Tourney were announced. No.2 Ole Miss baseball was selected as the No.4 overall national seed. The Rebels were also selected to host the Oxford-regional which begins this Friday and runs thru the weekend. The Rebels will be hosting St. Louis, Missouri State and Tennessee Tech. The draw was a good one for the Rebels and should be a good weekend.

Next: Better Than Expected...

First pitch from Swayze Field is set for 6:30pm CT as the Rebels will face the St. Louis Billikens in their first match-up of the Oxford-regional. Good luck to coach Mike Bianco and the Rebels. Hotty Toddy!
