The 2018 Ole Miss football season is just weeks away and OHT is taking a hard look at the Rebels SEC opponents and sizing up the competition.

While excitement is building for the 2018 Ole Miss football season OHT is taking a look at the schedule. We already took a look at the non conference portion of the Rebels schedule and now we look at the SEC competition. Despite what you may have heard the Rebels schedule is not easy. The SEC portion of the Rebels schedule could be a tough gauntlet to run thru.

Of course, the SEC is certainly the toughest conference in college football. If that is truly the case then the SEC West is by far the toughest division. When you consider the teams which are in the SEC West it can be a murderers row for even a great team. We’ve already picked the Rebels to have a great season even tho most college football pundits aren’t giving Ole Miss enough respect.

In 2017 we saw a Ole Miss Rebels team who grew up during the season and got better as the season progressed. Amid all the drama and distractions from the NCAA investigation and the early departure of Hugh Freeze the Rebels inked out a .500 season. Then interim head coach Matt Luke finished off the season with a 6-6 record and a huge 31-28 Egg Bowl win over 14th ranked Miss State.

This season won’t be an easy one for the Rebels simply because of the SEC West opponents the Rebels will have to face. Of course, there are the old familiar faces which the Rebels will see and a few new ones. We will take a look at them here. Right out of the gate the Rebels will face a giant when they open SEC play.
