With the season getting closer we’ve already begun to get excited about Ole Miss football and certain players we can expect to have huge seasons.

The 2018 Ole Miss football season is just around the corner and Ole Hotty Toddy has been previewing the season and making a few predictions. We looked at five defensive players we expect to have big seasons for the Landshark D. Now we look at the fast-paced Phil Longo offense and the five players we expect to have huge seasons. We do know, based on last season, this will be a fun season to watch the Rebels on the offensive side of the ball.

In 2017 the Longo offense amassed 5,548 yards of total offense averaging 462.3 yards per game. They were also responsible for 37 TDs both in the air and on the ground. Despite a 6-6 overall record the Rebels offense was fun to watch because of certain offensive weapons. Of course, this season will be no different and we can expect this offense to be even better in 2018. Naturally we can expect more from some of the key weapons last season. So lets jump right in and check out the five offensive players expected to have huge seasons.

First we look at the offensive field general Jordan Ta’amu. In 2017 Ta’amu ended the season completing 115 of 173 passes for 1,682 yards and 11 TDs. Ta’amu also had 165 yards rushing and 4 TDs on the ground. Last seasons stats were based on a shortened season for Ta’amu as he was thrown into the fire in the LSU game. With Ta’amu having another off-season under his belt he should put up incredible numbers.

Next Up

Next we take a look at two members of the NWO which is arguably the best receiving corp in the SEC if not the nation. It’s hard to pick just two of these WRs to have huge seasons and there could be three members of the NWO who show out.

First we look at junior receiver AJ Brown who led the SEC in receiving in 2017. Brown finished the season with 75 receptions for 1,252 yards and 11 TDs. Brown is listed on three pre-season First Team All-American teams. Next we look at DK Metcalf of the NWO. Last season Metcalf had 39 receptions for 646 yards and 7 TDs. Metcalf is a Phil Steele selection for Second Team pre-season All-SEC Team.

On The Line

Next on the list is another First Team All-American selection in offensive tackle Greg Little. Little has been solid on the offensive line for the Rebels in the past and we can expect Little to be even better this season. At 6’6 and 325 lbs Little is a key piece in one of the largest offensive lines in the nation.

The last stop we make on the list is at the end of the offensive line with tight-end Dawson Knox. Knox had a really good season in 2017 grabbing 24 receptions for 321 yards. Knox is listed at 6’4 and 250 lbs and is a great blocker at the end position with the hands of a WR. It’s easy to expect Knox to have a huge season. We are anxious to see all of these great players in action and wish them good luck on a successful 2018 season. Hotty Toddy!
