Saturday Ole Miss football fans were a nervous wreck watching the first half of the Rebels 76-41 blowout over SIU but we did get the win and learned a lot.

Like most Ole Miss football fans it has taken a few days for OHT to wrap our brains around the defensive meltdown in the first half against SIU in the Rebels home opener. Despite the lack of defense early the Rebels woke up in the second half and got the 76-41 blowout. The win took Matt Luke to 2-0 on the season and looking at No.1 Alabama this Saturday in the Rebels SEC season opener.

While FCS member Southern Illinois was supposed to be a game for improving from the week-one win over Texas Tech and polishing the mistakes before Bama the first half against the Salukis was anything but for the Matt Luke and the Rebels. Of course, the first half was only a part of the game Saturday and there were some real positives from the game as well. The most important part may be the win and going to 2-0 but everything we learned from Saturday is as equally important as the Rebels face Alabama this weekend. Here are five things we learned against SIU.
