Ole Miss Football: Power Ranking The SEC Teams After Week-2
Week-two of the 2018 Ole Miss football season ended in victory but we need to look at how they fared against the rest the SEC in OHT’s power rankings.
Ole Miss football is now 2-0 in the 2018 season and have given Rebels fans reason to be both excited and worried. Thru two games the Rebels have discovered a very powerful and potent offense while still trying to find a good defense. The rest of the SEC is pretty much in the same boat. Some teams have already taken losses within and out of the SEC and are scrambling to find the fix. Even the really good teams from last season are still polishing the rust off their games.
Last week we power-ranked the SEC teams based on their week-one performances and there were a few surprises from week-one with a number of SEC teams playing out of the cupcake zone and picking up big wins over quality opponents. The SEC went 13-1 in week-one with Tennessee picking up the lone loss against West Virginia. Week-two changed things a little bit for a few SEC teams who played tougher teams this week and there were also close calls in some cupcake games.
This Saturday saw the SEC have two big matchups between Georgia and South Carolina and also Kentucky and Florida. Georgia had no trouble establishing their dominance over the Gamecocks and Kentucky won over the Gators for the first time in 31 meetings. The Arkansas Razorbacks faced Colorado State on the road and lost after blowing a big lead. Even some of the wins weren’t very pretty when you consider the first half defensive meltdown by the Rebels. So if you are weak at heart, anger easily or think your team is special, well they aren’t. This is the SEC and anything can happen and sometimes does
Before we begin be sure to keep in mind these are a week to week power rankings which are based on schedule difficulty, statistics and overall win/loss record. Naturally just because a team was ranked high in week-one doesn’t necessarily mean they will be ranked high in week-two. This early in the season it is very hard to gauge teams while some are still virtually untested while others have played powerhouses. Of course as the season progresses OHT’s job will become much easier and hopefully some of us will be much happier. For now we look at week-two so with start in the SEC East with worst to first.
