Ole Miss Football: NFL Rebels Back In Action In Week-3

While Ole Miss football fans were still celebrating Saturdays win over Kent State there were NFL Rebels back in action in week-three of the 2018 NFL season.

As much as we love Ole Miss football, as Rebels fans we also love seeing former Ole Miss players having success at the next level. With 25 former Rebels on active rosters we have quite a few NFL Rebels to keep an eye on. Week-three of the 2018 NFL season proved to be a good one for a few Rebels who saw some playing time and helped get their teams big wins.

So far the season has had a few major surprises. Former Rebels and current Colts rookie running back Jordan Wilkins made his first career start in week-one and has been productive. Former Rebels DE/DT Breeland Speaks is now with the Chiefs and while it is no big surprise he is seeing playing time the fact Andy Reid is playing Speaks at OLB is.

Also seeing playing time is former Rebels DE Marquis Haynes who is now with the Panthers. So far the Rebels rookies are off to a good start in their NFL careers. Naturally there are some other young  NFL Rebels we’ve been following. We have watched and waited for former Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly to get a shot in the regular season after he had a sensational preseason.

Then of course there are the more experienced veteran NFL Rebels who we’ve been seeing in action for a few years or longer. Whether they have been in the league 14 years or if its their rookie season we want to see our NFL Rebels do well and OHT is here to give the latest news and updates on each of them who see playing time.

Veteran NFL Rebels

The biggest NFL Rebels performance in week-three went to Eli Manning who was instrumental in the Giants 27-22 win over the Houston Texans. Manning completed 25 of 29 attempts for 297 yards and 2 TDs with no INTs. Also in the win for the Giants was Evan Engram who had 2 receptions for 19 yards.

Former Rebels and now Jacksonville Jaguars WR Donte Moncrief had 2 receptions for 16 yards in the Jags 6-9 loss to the Titans. Former Ole Miss and now Minnesota Vikings WR Laquon Treadwell had 4 receptions for 33 yards in the Vikings 27-6 loss to the Bills.

Former Ole Miss defensive back Mike Hilton who is with the Pittsburgh Steelers had a good Monday night game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hilton had 5 tackle, 1 INT and 1 pass breakup in the Steelers 30-27 win.

Other NFL Rebels

Former Ole Miss and now Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Fadol Brown saw action in the Oakland Raiders 28-20 loss to the Dolphins. Brown had 1 tackle. Former Rebels and now San Fransisco 49ers defensive tackle DJ Jones had 1 tackle in the Niners 38-27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Rookie NFL Rebels

Of course the rookie NFL Rebels have been having a good season so far and have been seeing a significant amount of playing time. Former Rebels running-back Jordan Wilkins made his second start in the absence of Marlon Mack. Wilkins had 6 carries for 19 yards and 2 receptions for 1 yard in the Colts 20-16 loss to the Eagles. Also seeing action Sunday was former Rebels defensive lineman Breeland Speaks. Speaks had 2 tackles in the Chiefs 38-27 win over the 49ers.
