Give Him A Chance

Against Auburn we watched as Phil Longo and the Rebels attempted to run thru the middle of the Tigers defensive line. Against South Carolina we watched the Rebels running game shine. Scottie Phillips is very talented and very capable of making big plays but the play-calling needs to be more adaptive to showcase his skills and he needs to be used on the edge more.

Another area for Phillips to have more of an impact is in the passing game. Phillips could be deadly for opposing defenses if he was used more as a receiver out of the backfield. So far this season Phillips has had 10 receptions thru 9 games. That is not even close to the targets Jordan Wilkins had out of the backfield last season. When you consider 2 of Phillips’ receptions have gone for TDs then it is obvious what needs to be done.
