Coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball remain undefeated in SEC play with a tough road win over No.14 Miss State Saturday.

So far in 2019 new head coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball (13-2, 3-0) have been on a roll and have some huge SEC wins. Saturday the Rebels were back in SEC action on the road facing No.14 Miss State (12-3, 0-2) in the Hump. The Rebels entered the matchup coming off a huge midweek home blowout over No.10 Auburn and looked to remain perfect in SEC action.

No.14 Miss State entered the Saturday matchup coming off an upset loss to South Carolina and Saturday didn’t turn out much better for the Bullies. Once again we watched as Davis and Ole Miss basketball picked up another SEC road win and extended their winning streak to 10 consecutive games.

In front of a rowdy Miss State crowd the Rebels and Bulldogs kept it close in the first half with MSU taking the 41-39 lead into the locker room at the half. However, behind freshman Blake Hinson’s 26 point performance the Rebels outscored the Bullies 42-36 in the second half and picked up the 81-77 SEC road win over No.14 Miss State. We will look at the game by the numbers.

Observations

Without having to say it really, this team is for real and we’ve seen it in SEC play. This is a very good team and have some great talent in the wings. We saw freshman Blake Hinson have an incredible game and it shows Kermit Davis has great players who are unselfish with the basketball. In three SEC games we’ve seen three different leading scorers and in the Davis system anybody can have a huge game.
