The 2019 National Signing Day is February 6th and Ole Miss football recruiting is expecting to close out strong in the final weekend of visits.

This is a huge weekend for Ole Miss football recruiting just like it is for every other DI college program in the nation. While first impressions mean a lot in recruiting there are cases where the last impression a high school player sees makes the biggest impact. Last weekend was a huge weekend for coach Matt Luke and Ole Miss recruiting as there were a number of ‘hard targets’ on campus.

This weekend will be the final visits for a number of Ole Miss targets whether they are on campus in Oxford or not. From last weekend we know several players who will be taking final visits at other schools. How this will play out on signing day remains to be seen but we do know this past weekend went as good as it possibly could have for those on official visits. And now we are headed into the final weekend.

Where Ole Miss Stands

Ole Miss Rebels

Right now Ole Miss stands in a very good spot in most Rebels fans opinion. The current 2019 Ole Miss recruiting class in ranked No.25 in the nation and could look to move up. This past week Ole Hotty Toddy made a few NSD predictions which would certainly mean a huge close for coach Matt Luke and his staff with this recruiting class.

OHT looked at three players within the visitors last weekend and made a few bold predictions. Now OHT believes Ole Miss will get at least one and maybe two and possibly all three right given the situations. What we know is 5-star RB Jerrion Ealy, 4-star ILB Lakia Henry and 4-star dual threat QB John Rhys Plumlee will all sign somewhere on this coming Wednesday.

Right now coach Matt Luke and the Rebels stand as good of chance as any of the teams vying for these top recruits and could easily pull off an outstanding 2019 Ole Miss football recruiting class. This past weekend the Rebels hosted all three of the above recruits and while we didn’t have a flip yet it doesn’t mean we won’t.

The final weekend in the recruiting season is a process in which prospects and prospective schools have a fair shot at the top targets. This recruiting season is no different from recruiting seasons before where there is a ton of drama and Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke needs to make another recruiting statement.

More Of What We Know

We know coach Matt Luke and his staff have seven spots which they can fill on Wednesday. We know last weekend was huge for coach Matt Luke and the Rebels. We also know that this weekend there are three ‘hard targets’ considering their own landing spots and they won’t be at Ole Miss on the final weekend. QB John Rhys Plumlee is headed to FSU this weekend although he had great things to say about his visit and about Rich Rod’s offensive layout.

We know LB Lakia Henry is in Austin, Texas this weekend for his last official visit. Henry has indicated his choice will be between Ole Miss, Arkansas and Texas. We know the entire defensive staff from Ole Miss was in Kansas this Wednesday just prior to Henry taking his Texas visit. For Ole Miss to still be in the hunt at this point is huge.

What We Don’t Know

Where is Under Armor All-American RB Jerrion Ealy gonna land on Wednesday? Ealy who was a long-time commit for the Rebels until just after the UA All-American game was in Oxford this past weekend, however we have no idea how much play Ealy is actually seeing from Clemson and Miss State. Ealy may indeed make his choice Ole Miss but at this point our confidence level is waning.

light. Related Story. NSD Predictions!

Ealy could be a very good fit for not just Ole Miss football but also Ole Miss baseball. Ealy split time this past weekend with both Ole Miss programs this past weekend in Oxford. When you consider his opportunities in baseball a ranked Ole Miss team should clearly be his favorite although both Clemson and MSU also have excellent baseball programs. We really just don’t know at this point.

This Weekend In Oxford

Coach Matt Luke and the Rebels will be hosting ‘Junior Day’ this Saturday. There will be a number of junior high-school players in Oxford who will be taking part. Besides the future Ole Miss Rebels prospects on campus there will be some official visits.

One big visit is 3-star ILB Zach Edwards of Starkville. Edwards, considered one of the Top20 high school players in Mississippi, would be a huge catch for Ole Miss late. Besides being a very good linebacker he is also from Starkville and really doesn’t consider MSU a spot for him. Edwards is also being pursued by Louisville.

What some Rebels fans believe to be the biggest story of the weekend is the official visit of Adonis Otey. Out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee Otey is considered the No.17 player in Tennessee. Otey is currently committed to Arkansas but the Rebels have the final impression on Otey which could be huge.
