While Matt Luke and Ole Miss football just finished with the 2019 recruiting class it’s never too early to look ahead to the Rebels 2020 class.

Last week coach Matt Luke and Ole Miss football wrapped up the 2019 recruiting class with a surprisingly big finish on National Signing Day. The 2019 class finished ranked No.22 in the nation and No.9 in the SEC. Although some Ole Miss fans believe those numbers should have been better they are good considering the 2018 season and the aftermath which followed.

Naturally there is a lot of time and events which will have to take place before the 2020 signing period begins in December. However, the Rebels have a head coach and two coordinators who will be working hard to get the best possible recruits on campus in Oxford. Of course, there is an entire season of high school and college football to be played and recruiting success for players and coaches depends largely on success on the field.

2020 Class Could Be Great

Yes the 2020 class may be far away but with the success coach Matt Luke and the 2019 class we have to be optimistic. While it may be early in the 2020 recruiting cycle one can be sure the job of recruiting top players for the Ole Miss football program never stops.

In fact there are current high school players who have already indicated an interest in Ole Miss and over the coming months we will see more players take aim at the Rebels. As for now the 2020 class sits with just one commit but from past experience we have seen commits pile up quickly.

Eli Acker out of Heritage Academy in Columbus is so far the Rebels lone commit for 2020. Acker is rated as a 3-star offensive tackle and is listed at 6’5 and 259 lbs. Acker has been committed to Ole Miss since May of 2018 and also has an offer to Southern Miss. Acker is solid Ole Miss.

Top Targets

As with any class there are always top targets. For coach Matt Luke and his staff they have their sights set on a number of great recruits. With 182 Ole Miss offers on the table we can see how college football recruiting is a major numbers game. While the 2020 recruiting class has just one commit at this point we know there are targets who will make this class a success.

Of course there are other targets for Luke and the Rebels but all of these are heavily interested in Ole Miss. How many of these will Luke and his staff ink? We really can’t be sure at this point but with a number of them being from Mississippi we know Luke has a great shot at getting some of these top targets.
