Coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball have a had a very successful season and are inching closer to much wanted March Madness.

It’s the first day of March and Ole Miss basketball (19-9, 9-6) has just three regular season games remaining. With the Rebels record we can be certain the Rebels will be seeing postseason play beyond the SEC Tourney but will the Rebels be able to get at least one more regular season win to get the magical twentieth win to help get an NCAA bid? Yes, they should be able to do it.

The Rebels have Arkansas (14-14, 5-10) this Saturday on the road at Fayetteville before returning to Oxford to face No.4 Kentucky (24-4, 13-2) in The Pavilion Tuesday night. Coach Kermit Davis and the Rebels will then close out their season next Saturday on the road against Missouri. (12-15, 3-12).

March Should Be Good

The Rebels have season wins against both Arkansas and Missouri but those wins came at home in Oxford. After the Wednesday night heartbreaking home loss to Tennessee the Rebels know they are playing very good basketball and have a lot to look forward to as they finish up the season.

If the Rebels can secure wins at Arkansas and Missouri then the Rebel should be a shoe-in for the NCAA Tourney. Then there is also the SEC Tourney which will be beginning March 14th and run thru March 17th. Coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball have ample opportunity to increase their seeding in both SEC and NCAA Tourney.

It Won’t Be Easy

With three games left in the regular season the Rebels have their work cut off for them. While both Arkansas and Mizzou have bad records and the Rebels should easily get both wins it won’t be easy. Now are when teams are the toughest to beat on their home courts and Ole Miss will have to play hard in both Fayetteville and Columbia in order to get wins. Playing on the road in the SEC is never easy.

Then next Tuesday night coach Kermit Davis and the Rebels must face No.4 Kentucky. While the Wildcats are playing the way they are they are tough for anybody to beat. A win at Arkansas on Saturday would be huge for the Rebels heading against UK. However, right now every team is or should be playing their best basketball so all three games are very important for the Rebels.
