Bringing Back The TE

This was a position group which we watched decline over the past few seasons. While the talent was there the tight ends were way under-utilized over the past two seasons under Phil Longo. Ole Miss has long been known for producing great TEs over the years and now under Rich Rod and new TE coach Calvin Magee we can expect to see more focus put on the position and the talent the Rebels have.

With the departure of Dawson Knox we are expecting a huge spring from a number of Rebels. Seniors Octavious Cooley and Jason Pellerin are two TEs who everyone is watching throughout the spring. Also available in the spring are juniors Nick Haynes and Nikolas Dean as well as sophomore Alex Faniel and red-shirt freshman Sam Murphey.

Of course, once the Grove Bowl finally gets here we will have a much better idea of what the TE group will look like in the new Rich Rod offense. We can certainly expect to see the position group receive much more attention now and play a larger role in the future.
