Coach Mike Bianco and No.14 Ole Miss baseball (16-6) picked up the 12-2 game-one win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2-18) in the two-game midweek series. Wednesday evening the Rebels were back in action in game-two and were looking for the series sweep and found it. The Rebels also found a record-setting night and the broom in a 25-0 blowout win.

Needless to say the Rebels got on the board first with 3 runs in the bottom of the first to take the early 3-0 lead. The Rebels added 1 run in the bottom of the second to extend the lead to 4-0 before an amazing third inning where Ole Miss scored 8 runs to blow the game open with a 12-0 lead.

Behind solid shutout pitching the Rebels added 6 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend the lead to 18-0. Ole Miss baseball then blew the game open again with 7 runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead once again but now at 25-0. As expected in a 25-0 blowout there are some off the wall stats. There were also some over the wall stats from the Rebels Wednesday. As a team there were 12 Rebels who combined for 21 hits with 6 Rebels recording multiple hit games. 4 Rebels registered 5 homers in the game as well. We have a lot to cover.

Leading all Rebels at the plate was sophomore Tyler Keenan who went 5 for 6 with 7 RBI and 2 HR. Junior Thomas Dillard went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI and 1 HR. Senior Ryan Olenek and freshman Kevin Graham each went 2 for 3 at the plate with Olenek recording 2 RBI and Graham with 4 RBI while each player had 1 HR.

Sophomore Tim Elko went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI while junior Cole Zabowski also went 1 for 2 in the game. Sophomore Carl Gindl also went 1 for 2. Freshman Knox Loposer went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI while sophomore Anthony Servideo went 1 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI.

Story Of The Hill

On the mound junior left-hander Zack Phillips drew the start for Bianco and the Rebels. Phillips went for 3.0 innings allowing no hits with 4 Ks. Freshman left-hander Kaleb Hill entered in the fourth and went for 2.0 innings allowing no hits with 4 Ks and 2 BB.

Senior lefty Pierce Smith entered in the sixth and pitched the 1.0 inning allowing no hits with 1 K and 1 BB. Junior right-hander Taylor Broadway entered in the 7th and finished out the rout from the hill. Broadway went 1.0  inning allowing no hits with 3 Ks. Phillips (2-1) picked up the win.

Observations

This was a blast off for the Rebels at the plate and a very impressive combined performance on the hill from the Rebels pitching staff. Over the past few days we’ve seen Mike Bianco shake things up by batting order and starting pitching rotation changes. While we know UAPB isn’t a very good ball team we have to believe Bianco is figuring things out before the Rebels hit the SEC full stride.

Next. The 2019 Diamond Rebels. dark

Coach Mike Bianco and Ole Miss baseball will be back in action this weekend on the road as the Rebels face Missouri in a weekend SEC series First pitch for game-one Friday from Columbia is set for 6pm CT and the game can be seen on the SEC Network. Good luck to coach Bianco and the Rebels. Hotty Toddy!
