After a huge Sunday for Ole Miss football recruiting Monday afternoon saw Matt Luke get another huge commitment for the 2020 recruiting class.

Sunday we watched as coach Matt Luke and Ole Miss football picked up two commitments to bring the 2020 class to three commits. Monday was more of the same as the Rebels picked up their fourth commit for the 2020 Ole Miss football recruiting class. Mondays commitment puts the total at four for the 2020 recruiting class and for now the Rebels class still ranks No.46 in the nation and No.12 in the SEC.

Mondays commitment came from Daylen Gill of Louisville, Mississippi and marked the 3rd in-state player who has verbally committed to Luke and the Rebels. So far we can see coach Matt Luke has been busy both on and off the practice field this spring and we can be sure the 2020 Ole Miss football recruiting class will only get better as we draw closer to both the early signing period and national signing day. OHT takes a closer look at Gill.

Daylen Gill commits to coach Matt Luke and the 2020 Ole Miss recruiting class as a product of Jones County Junior College. Gill is a S/ILB listed at 6’0 and 216lbs and is unrated by 247Sports as of now but we know rankings can likely change thru the college football recruiting cycle. Gill also has offers from Arkansas State, Louisiana, Louisiana-Monroe and Troy.

We already know in the new 3-4 Mike Mac defense the linebacker position, both inside and out, are the biggest keys for success. In the past we have seen some great Ole Miss linebackers with Patrick Willis, Cassius Ware and most recently DeMarquis Gates. Most Rebels fans are excited by what we’ve seen thru spring practice and now into the 2020 class.

  2. Kyjuan Herndon, 3* ATH, FL
  3. Austin Keys, unrated ILB, MS
  4. Daylen Gill, unrated S/ILB, MS, JUCO

So we wait some more and we see who is the next great Rebel to make their commitment to coach Matt Luke and Ole Miss football. From what we see as the trend for the 2020 Ole Miss football recruiting class is there will be a focus on defensive personnel for the second level at LB and also for the offensive line.

We are now looking at a whole different defense and we know we have to have an entire new package of LBs both inside and outside. The offensive line took a huge hit this year between graduation and the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft so that will be keyed upon thru this 2020 recruiting cycle. Last year’s class focused on the defensive line and we’ve seen several DEs from last season now at the OLB position. It’s no surprise Luke and Mike Mac are going for solid inside guys.
