Coach Mike Smith and No.17 Ole Miss softball were back in action Friday as they travelled to Lexington to face off against No.22 Kentucky.

After a big 11-1 midweek win over Belmont on Tuesday night coach Mike Smith and No.17 Ole Miss softball (25-10, 5-4) were back in SEC action Friday night. The Rebels travelled to face No.22 Kentucky (24-13, 8-5) in Lexington and were hoping to continue the roll they were on last weekend against the No.6 Florida Gators. The Wildcats would have something to say about it in game-one.

Kentucky got on the board first with 2 runs in the bottom of the first to take the 2-0 lead. The Wildcats then added 4 runs in the bottom of the second to extend their lead to 6-0. Kentucky wasn’t done and added 4 more runs in the bottom of the third to push their lead to 10-0. The Rebels got on the board with 1 run in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 10-1.

The Rebels then added 2 runs in the top of the fifth to again cut into the lead at 10-3. Ole Miss added 1 run in the top of the sixth to again cut the UK lead to 10-4 but the Wildcats added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead to 11-4 which was then the final in game-one.
