Coach Mike Smith and No.15 Ole Miss softball were back in action this weekend as they faced No.14 Georgia on the road in Athens.

No.15 Ole Miss softball (36-16, 13-10) was back in action this weekend as they travelled to Athens to take on the No.14 Georgia Bulldogs (39-16, 12-12). The Rebels entered the three-game SEC series coming off a series win over No.9 Tennessee.

Coach Mike Smith and the Rebels were looking to stay in the win column and finish the regular season strong with the SEC Tournament beginning later this week. However, the Bulldogs would be a very tough opponent for the Rebels sweeping the three-game series. OHT looks at the series.

Game-one, 0-1 L

In Fridays game-one loss there were 3 Rebels who combined for just 3 hits. Sophomore Abbey Latham led all Rebels at the plate going 1 for 2. Senior Kylan Becker and freshman Mikayla Allee both went 1 for 3.

Senior right-hander Brittany Finney drew the start in the circle. Finney went for 6.1 innings allowing 1 earned run on 6 hits with 4 Ks and 1 BB. Finney (14-6) picked up the loss.

Game-two, 5-6, L

Because of inclement weather the Rebels were forced to play a double-header on Sunday. In the game-two loss there were 8 Rebels who combined for 9 hits. Leading all Rebels at the plate was senior Kylan Becker who went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.

Freshman Mikayla Allee went 1 for 2 while sophomore Abbey Latham went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI. Junior Kaylee Horton went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI. Senior Brittany Finney and junior Autumn Gillespie both went 1 for 4 at the plate. Sophomores Amanda Roth and Jessica Puk also went 1 for 4 in the game.

Junior left-hander Molly Jacobsen drew the game-two start in the circle. Jacobsen went for 6.1 innings allowing 2 earned on 9 hits with 5 Ks and 3 BB. Senior right-hander Brittany Finney entered in the seventh and went 0.1 inning allowing 3 earned runs on 2 hits with 1 BB. Finney (14-7) picked up the loss.

Game-three, 0-8, L

In the game-three loss there with 3 Rebels who combined for 3 hits. Freshman Mikayla Allee went 1 for 1 at the plate. Sophomore Abbey Latham and senior Brittany Finney both went 1 for 2 in the game.

Senior right-hander Brittany Finney drew the start in the circle for the Rebels. Finney went for 1.1 innings allowing 6 earned runs on 5 hits with 2 BB. Sophomore right-hander Ava Tillmann entered in the second and finished out the circle. Tillmann went for 2.2 innings allowing 0 earned runs on 1 hit with 4 Ks, 1 BB and 1 WP. Finney (14-8) picked up the loss.
