In just over a week the 2019 Ole Miss football season will begin and we know Rebels fans are waiting for great things this season. Are You Ready?

Next Saturday Ole Miss football will kick off the 2019 season in Memphis. With new staff and player additions Ole Miss fans are anxious to get the season cranked up and find out the answers to the many questions we have about the Rebels in 2019. How will the new coordinators adapt the Rebels offensively and defensively? How much better will the defense be? Will the Rebels offense be as good as last season or will they be better or worse?

With the departure of a large part of the 2018 Ole Miss offense there are certainly concerns among fans on that front. It is said Rich Rod is happy with the improvement he has seen on offense. As for the defense it is expected they will be much better than what we’ve witnessed the past three seasons. It is easy to be a homer and expect a great season and while it could happen we should temper our expectations. The SEC West will be a tough division in 2019.

Ready For Excitement

While we can’t be sure just how good the Rebels will be on either side of the ball we do know the talent is there regardless of experience. Over the past number of seasons we have watched the Rebels be exciting of offense. Now with new coordinator Rich Rod, when basically revolutionized the spread offense, we can expect some more excitement. This offense has the potential to be even better but it hangs on whether the inexperienced players can step up quickly and fill the gaps left from last season.

Of course, there are positions on offense which are solid and the running back position is one of the those. Other position groups to watch are the NWO with the return of Elijah Moore and Braylon Sanders and the tight end position which will likely be utilized much more than we saw last season. Naturally all eyes will be focused on redshirt freshman Matt Corral at quarterback.

Over the years we have watched the decline of the Rebels defensively. The Rebels have a new coordinator, defensive scheme and are returning 8 starters from 2018. The 2019 defense will be much faster, more aggressive and should be much improved from last season. With doubts about the offense, the defense will have to be better or it could be a long season for coach Matt Luke and the Rebels.

Also, keep in mind there are some very talented new faces who could likely stand out this season. What we do know is we wont have to wait much longer to find out just how good this Rebels team will be.
