Jonathan Mingo, Wide Receiver

  • Carolina Panthers
  • Round 2, Pick 39

Jonathan Mingo was the first player representing Ole Miss football to be selected in this year’s draft. He was selected early on in the second round with pick number 39 by the Carolina Panthers.

Mingo was drafted to replace former Panthers number one receiver D.J. Moore, who was traded to Chicago earlier this offseason in exchange for the number one overall pick. With that pick, Carolina drafted Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, and their next pick would be Mingo, giving the rookie quarterback a weapon to work with for the Panthers Offense.

Mingo will have some time to adjust as he will be joining a couple of talented veteran pass catchers in 9-year NFL veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen and four-year vet D.J. Chark but he will likely take over as the Panthers top target sooner rather than later.
