The Ole Miss vs Auburn series has been a torrid time for the Rebels in its near 100 year history. The Tigers lead the series 35-11, with Ole Miss last winning 2 games in a row all the way back in 1952. Lets have some fun with some bold predictions for the game on Saturday evening.
Tre Harris 200+ receiving yards and 3 TDs
Not the boldest take, but still bold enough. Wide receiver Tre Harris has shown how valuable he is on the team, either side of his injury. In the Rebels opening game, Harris had 4 TDs and 133 receiving yards. He also had a 153 yard game against LSU.
Auburn are middle of the road in passing defense rankings, giving up an average of 230.4 yards per game. However, against the 3 SEC teams they have faced, that increases to 277 yards per game.
It’s a bold prediction, but Harris is more than capable of hitting the above numbers. It will be tough, as Ole Miss are able to spread the ball to various receivers. However, if Jordan Watkins is limited on snaps, Harris can produce higher numbers.
He has already showed in games that he is capable off putting up numbers and this Ole Miss offense is one of the most electric in college football.
Suntarine Perkins to record 4 sacks
The offensive line has been a big question mark for Auburn this season. As well as plenty QB pressures, they are giving up sacks. They are averaging 3 sacks allowed per game, giving up a whopping 7 to Texas A&M in week 4.
He has recorded 3.5 sacks through 6 games, including 2 in the game against Alabama. He leads the team in sacks and has been a menace on the defensive front for the Rebels.
If this Auburn offensive line crumbles again, Perkins and co could feast. It would be even more impressive, with it being on the road.
Ole Miss to drop 50+ points
Yes, as bold predictions go, this is up there with outrageous. The last time an opposition scored 50+ points against Auburn was in 2018, when Alabama scored 52 at home. A few teams have been close since then, with LSU nothing 48 last weekend.
It’s going to be even tougher to do it in Auburn. However, this offense can score quickly and frequently. The Rebels scored 55 against LSU this season and did it twice last season.
If the team get on a march on offense, they are one of the toughest sides to slow down in college football. The defense will need to do their job too, in stopping the Auburn offensive drives quickly.
They are more than capable and it would be some performance if they manage to eclipse the 50 point barrier and one of the best bold predictions of the season.
