Going into the last 3 games of the season, Ole Miss needed to win all their remaining games. On top of that, they needed Alabama to lose their last two conference games for a chance at the SEC West title. The Rebels dreams were dashed earlier today.

Ole Miss have a big game later today at 6pm CT/ 7PM ET against the current college football champions. However, they will have had one eye on the early kick-off between Kentucky and Alabama.

Ole Miss needs to take care of their own business. However, a Kentucky victory would have give the Rebels a bigger chance of the SEC West top spot, much bigger than before the day started.

Although there was a small bit of hope that the unthinkable could happen today, you would find it hard to find many who would put money on it. Very wise, as Alabama took care of business in  comfortable style, brushing the Wildcats aside 49-21.

Crimson Tide QB Jalen Milroe had himself a day, setting a Alabama Football record, being the only QB to throw for 3 passing TDs and rushing for 3 TDs in a game.

Alabama had a rough start to the season, losing to Texas and then dropping Milroe for Tyler Buchner, an experiment that didn’t work. Since then, Milroe came back in as the starter and Alabama have not looked back.

It’s a blow for the Rebels, as they still search for their first SEC West title. Looking back, they caught Alabama early in the season, when they weren’t performing. However, Ole Miss didn’t play to their high standards on offense, resulting in a devastating loss.

It’s a loss that has helped towards Alabama clinching the SEC West and a place in the SEC Championship Game. If Ole Miss win out along with Bama, both will finish 11-1. However, Bama hold the win over Ole Miss that gives them the tie break decider.

Still, Ole Miss still has a small percentage chance of making the college football playoffs, so all is not lost with the Alabama result.
