Not only did Georgia beat down Ole Miss last week 52-17, but the Rebels also nearly lost their quarterback, Jaxson Dart. Dart was knocked out of the game after a big hit in the third quarter and was replaced by Oklahoma State transfer Spencer Sanders.
Dart finished the game 10/17 passing for 112 yards and an interception, and the Ole Miss offense only managed 5.1 yards per play which is a far cry from the season average of 6.7. Lane Kiffin’s offense will probably work a lot better against UL Monroe this week than it did against Georgia in Week 11.
Plenty of SEC teams schedule a cupcake game in Week 12 and the Rebels are no exception. UL Monroe is 2-8 and 14th in the Sun Belt conference.
The Rebels could probably survive with Sanders at quarterback this week, but Dart is probable to play. Lane Kiffin was asked about his status after the Georgia game.
According to reports, Kiffin said after the game that Dart could have returned to the game after the injury but did not because the game wasn’t close.
The best news for Ole Miss isn’t just that Dart is likely to play in Week 12 of 2023. Dart is reportedly returning for his senior season in 2024. Dart is up to 2,579 passing yards on 65.1% completion percentage and is averaging 9.9 yards per attempt.
UL Monroe is 124th in total defense and allows 7.9 yards per attempt which ranks 105th in the country. Dart should have a great day ahead of the Egg Bowl on Thanksgiving.
Jaxson Dart injury status:
Jaxson Dart is PROBABLE against UL Monroe.
