Ole Miss Bowl predictions: Where will the Rebels play?
We are heading into week 13 of the college football season, which means two things. Firstly, it’s the Egg Bowl on Thanksgiving Day against Mississippi State. Secondly, it’s close to bowl game season for selected teams. Let’s look at some Ole Miss Bowl Predictions.
Sunday afternoon, Ole Miss moved up one spot to number 12 in the new AP Poll rankings. It’s still unclear where they will be in Tuesday’s CFP rankings. However, let’s look at some more realistic Ole Miss Bowl Predictions that could happen.
Cheez-It Citrus Bowl – vs Iowa Hawkeyes
The most likely scenario if the rankings stay as is after week 13 is the Cheez-it Citrus Bowl against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Ole Miss would be the next best SEC team in the rankings, with Alabama and Missouri competing in New Year’s Day bowl games. They would play the next-best Big Ten team in the rankings, which would be Iowa.
Iowa have cemented their place in the Big Ten Championship game with one game left against Nebraska. They should do the business against the Cornhuskers but likely lose to Ohio State or Michigan in the championship game.
Expect a tough game for the Rebels offense if they meet the Hawkeyes.
ReliaQuest Bowl – vs Notre Dame
If the Rebels fail to beat Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl and LSU beats Texas A&M, the Tigers could leapfrog Ole Miss.
It would mean they would play in the ReliaQuest Bowl against Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish face Stanford in week 13, with a loss to the Cardinal an unlikely scenario.
Ole Miss have only faced Notre Dame twice in college football history, with the last game played in 1985. If they met in 2023, it would be a potential high-scoring match-up with both teams having high-powered offenses.
Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl – vs Tulane
There is a chance Ole Miss could make it to the Peach Bowl. They would need Missouri to lose at Arkansas, which is an unlikely scenario with how both teams have played this season.
If miraculously Arkansas get the win over the Tigers and Ole Miss beats Mississippi State, then they are in a prime position to reach the Peach Bowl. It would be a match-up against the top Group of 5 teams, with that likely to be Tulane.
It would be the second season in a row Tulane would make the New Year’s Bowl games, beating USC in the Cotton Bowl in January.
If the Rebels did match up against Tulane, it would be another treat for college football fans.
