The commitments keep rolling in for Lane Kiffin, with the latest player taking to socials to confirm his commitment to the Rebels. Southern Miss offensive lineman Gerquan Scott is transferring to Ole Miss.

Lane Kiffin has had an incredible few weeks with regards to the transfer portal. The head coach made it five commitments today, with offensive lineman Gerquan Scott making it official.

Scott chose Ole Miss over SEC rivals Auburn, the only other team he took an official visit to. The big guard announced his commitment via social media with the hashtag #StayingInThe Sip.

Gerquan Scott is an experienced interior lineman who has played snaps at both guard positions and centre, with most of his games at left guard. Scott measures 6-foot-4 and 300 lbs and is a people mover along the offensive line.

Scott wrote in a personal message on social media that he had made the best decision for his future and his family. Scott also mentioned the Ole Miss staff, who he said had made a significant impression on him.

Ole Miss had issues along the offensive line this season, with inconsistent play and injuries. Fans were vocal about the position being the number one key focus when it came to strengthening the team.

It’s the first offensive line addiction from the transfer portal for Ole Miss. However, we could see another one very soon, with Indiana offensive tackle Carter Smith trending in favour of the Rebels.

It’s a great transfer portal pick-up for Lane Kiffin while also getting one over on rivals Auburn. It comes a day after redshirt sophomore offensive tackle Micah Pettus announced he was heading back to Oxford for one more season.

Everything is coming together for 2024, with the 2023 Peach Bowl still to play for.
