Jaxson Dart makes program history in the Egg Bowl
Ole Miss still had a chance of sneaking into the College Football Playoffs heading into the Egg Bowl, albeit the smallest of chances. However, beating their rivals Mississippi State is always important, regardless of the team's record heading into the game.
Ole Miss defeated the Bulldogs 26-14 in a close game, as Egg Bowl games usually are. However, Jaxson Dart will argue that nothing is more important than beating the team you hate, but the 2024 Egg Bowl had more significance for him than any previous game.
In the final game of the regular season, the Jaxson Dart made program history by becoming the program leader in passing yards, overtaking the great Eli Manning. Dart finished the Egg Bowl with 143 passing yards, taking him to 10,213 in his three seasons with the Rebels, overtaking Manning, who had 10,119.

Dart still has the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl to add more yards to his total, so he could finish with a total that will be hard for future quarterbacks to top. It took somebody 24 years to beat Eli Manning's record, with only Bo Wallace coming close.
It feels extra special for Dart, one of the program's all-time best players, who will always have a special place in Oxford, regardless of records. However, to be at the top of the pile in passing yards for the program and to do it against Mississippi State will mean much more to the kid from Utah.
