And the high-stakes game of chicken is on!
Both Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and GM Howie Roseman stayed as ambiguous as they could afford to be, and evaded guarenteeing A.J. Brown's future in Philadephia.
A.J. Brown's agent already gauing the market
It didn't take long for Brown and his team to catch up with the writing on the wall, and start preparing for the imapct.
Shortly after Roseman confirming Sirianni's call on their WR1, Jimmy Sexton started making calls.
The Athletic's insider Dianna Russini reported that Brown's camp is proceeding in a way very similar to Max Crosby's, meeting teams to gauge the market.
"In just the way Max Crosby's agents and teams are talking about that, that's the same thing that's happening here," Russini said on the Scoop City.
"So, Jimmy Sexton, his rep, is meeting with different teams to just get a feel for who's interested, what this would look like," she added.
That is some significant news that changes everything. Up until now, only one side of the story was out.
Now that Sexton's actions reveal where Brown's mind is at, more teams would be dialing up Roseman's number.
"Our job as GMs, we gotta listen on anyone, and that doesn’t have anything to do with A.J. If anyone calls me and says, ‘Hey, I want to talk about a player,’ for me to say unequivocally, ‘I’m not taking your call,‘ that doesn’t make sense because I don’t know what they’re going to say on the other end," Roseman said in his interview with CBS Sports, signaling an indirecrt green light to teams willing for a blockbuster trade for Brown.
Now all that's left to see is which team can land the Super Bowl caliber WR.
