Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is here to stay as the top candidate in the 2025 coaching carousel.

Despite Ole Miss having one of the best seasons they had in quite a while and them being a serious college football playoff contender, Kiffin remains a top name in shortlists of programs looking for their next head coach.

The LSU Tigers are the latest one. On Sunday, the school announced that it would be parting ways with Brian Kelly after a way-below-expectations 5-3 start to the season.

One of those losses was handed to Kelly by none other than Kiffin himself earlier this season.

Lane Kiffin floated as Brian Kelly's replacement

Now, he is rumored as Kelly's top replacement in Death Valley.

LSU is not the only one hot on Kiffin's trail, though. Florida's desperation for Kiffin has been in the headlines and on social media even before they fired Billy Napier earlier this month.

The rumors can run rampant, but Kiffin will have the final say. And so far, it appears that he is not planning to leave Oxford anytime soon.

"I just mentioned it to them yesterday. That's a product of having a program with a lot of players and coaches doing a really good job," Kiffin said in his pre-game interview on Saturday, addressing the Florida coaching rumors.

"I probably wouldn’t even have mentioned it, because they’ve been through this every year. Probably four years in a row, but we have so many new guys. I just told them, ‘Hey guys, that’s what happens around here because we win games and people like the style that we play in.' That’s all a compliment to the players."

Kiffin seems locked in on taking Ole Miss to the college football playoffs and possibly the national championship this season.
