The wait-and-see game in Philadelphia is reaching its final act. AJ Brown's future with the Eagles might finally come out of the shadows before June 1. Latest inside word from Adam Schefter suggests things are looking less like an Eagles retention and more like a Patriots heist.

Meaning: Ole Miss fans will most likely not get the Rebel reunion they've been looking forward to for weeks.

Rebel renuion dreams almost close to crushing

"A.J. Brown is likely to become a Patriot post June 1, per ESPN sources," Schefter said April 20.

"The Eagles remain open to trading AJ Brown, the Patriots remain highly interested in acquiring the star receiver, and conversations are expected to resume shortly on or before June 1, likely culminating in a deal, per league sources," he added.

"As one source said about the Patriots' pursuit of Brown, they'll definitely be engaging then. A trade to New England is now considered likely."

Ever since the Eagles signed Elijah Moore to join Brown in the WR room, the entire Sip has been buzzing to see the two playing together again.

The logical part of their brain screamed the WR hire was a direct safety net for when they close the trade on Brown, but the Rebel part of their heart didn't want to believe it then.

Now, sooner than later, the Rebel Nation has to.

If New England does end up running away with the A.J. Brown sweepstakes, the Eagles might be forced to pick another wide receiver or two in the 2026 NFL Draft to make up for the veteran wideout gap in their roster.
